This past week, Marcel Brus-Ramer, MD, PhD, Founder and President of Elite Medical Prep, was invited to do medical education grand rounds at the University of Hawai’i John A. Burns School of Medicine. The topic of Dr. Brus-Ramer’s presentation was Balancing and Integrating USMLE Prep with Pre-Clinical Medical Education.
Dr. Brus-Ramer says he was both excited and honored to be invited to present at the school’s Grand Rounds, even though the presentation was shifted from in-person to online given the ongoing COVID-19 social distancing restrictions. Ken Rubin, MD, Founder and CEO of Elite Medical Prep was also in virtual attendance and cites the experience as, “all-around very positive.” Dr. Rubin noted that despite the the need to shift everything online as a result of the COVID-19 crisis in the United States, there was still a high degree of interaction and engagement from the virtual audience of faculty at University of Hawai’i. Dr. Brus-Ramer had originally been invited to give grand rounds in person at the University of Hawai’i. In accordance with CDC recommendations, all schools have been closed for weeks- moving the presentation online. However, Dr. Brus-Ramer was able to give a well-received interactive teaching seminar to JABSOM students in early March before the social distancing restrictions were put in place in Hawai’i.
