About Rivka

Rivka completed her BS in Biomedical Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology, graduating with top honors in 2005. She went on to pursue an MD/PhD at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Rivka received NIH F30 fellowship funding for her work on telomere dynamics in aging, and defended her thesis on interferons in lupus in 2011. After  receiving her MD in 2013, she did an internship year in Pediatrics and then completed a physician scientist research residency in Dermatology at the University of Miami. Rivka is currently a board-certified dermatologist and Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where she sees patients and conducts translational research on inflammatory and fibrosing skin disorders (see publications here). In parallel with her academic career, Rivka held leadership roles at Med School Tutors for 12 years, serving as senior tutor mentor, Director of Tutor Development and Medical Education, and as Chief Medical Officer from 2018-2021. Rivka brings her extensive experience in medical education to her work with students, tutors, and institutions at EMP.
